Field Trip Time
I went with my daughter’s class to the science museum today.
We learned how to dissect a heart.
We listened to our own hearts too…
The experience was a big ball of science + wonder + mess + imagination + coolness, and I put on the gloves and jumped right in to help. No squeamishness, no ick, no carefully calculated distance between me and the kids. And I was pretty good...
Learning
I attended my first internet conference this weekend. I went alone, was very nervous walking in, but finally found my way. As I was looking through the pictures that I took, I realized that I didn’t take any of the friends that I connected with or the new people that I met. Just pictures of the people speaking to the sessions I attended. It’s very grad student of me.

Big Bend
The Window
Three deer who weren’t afraid of us at all
Junior Park Ranger hard at work
The Rio Grande and Mexico on the other side
Keeping an eye out
Cathedral Mountain and cows on the hillside
An amazing time, a beautiful part of my state, a time to re-connect with family. Another big idea crossed off my list.
What we did today
We saw lots of wind turbines in Sweetwater. And I meant lots. It is the “Wind Energy Capital of the World.”
We went to the Odessa Meteor Crater. The kids were impressed. Craig, not so much.
We went to the Monahans Sand Hills State Park. Everyone was impressed by this. Who knew there were such huge sand dunes in the middle of Texas? It was truly amazing.
Tomorrow,...
Valentine's Day Cards
Caroline and I made these Valentine packages today. She is so excited to give them to her friends tomorrow.
The cards are from Cool Mom Picks, and we found the directions for how to make the chunky crayons on Make and Takes. Caroline spent quite a bit of time putting together card and crayon combinations for each classmate and her teacher. I could see the pride swelling up in her as...
Super Bowl Sunday
My favorite part of football season? Super Bowl food and commercials, of course.
Course #1: Bob Armstrong Dip
Course #2: Red Beans & Rice in honor of New Orleans. Who dat!
Happiness is...
A stack of new pajamas
A new book to read
A cup of coffee
A new friend at the barn
A happy kid
I promised myself
I promised myself that I would find the good in each day — seek out the beauty in the life that surrounds me. Today was one of those days when it was challenging, but I refuse to give in. So what was wonderful about today? I got the laundry done. That’s one of those things that I am trying to weave into the architecture of my life. I opened a bottle of champagne, instead of saving it...
I'm Lost →
There isn’t much that makes me happier than the show LOST. I even put down the laptop for the first half of the season premiere. That’s dedication.
